It’s the holiday season and there are just so many reasons to celebrate with your family and friends. Let’s be honest, we know that whenever we’re with our loved ones, bad food will always be around and despite our best intentions; we tend to over do it.

Overeating rich, fatty, spicy foods, drinking alcohol and coffee can lead to indigestion, bloating, feeling tired and sluggish. Proper digestion is the most important component to living a healthy and long life.

So let’s find the balance this holiday season. Let’s allow our body to detoxify and recover naturally from the weeks of holiday abuse. Here are 5 simple tips to help reset your body and recharge your energy level.

1) Drink Herbal Tea – YourTea

Spend the next few morning coffee free. Instead, choose to sip on herbal tea, which has been proven to reduce bloating, aids digestion and restore your body back to its original health.

My favourite herbal tea brand is YourTea. In fact, this is one of the few tea brands I endorse, because YourTea is based upon Traditional Chinese Medicine Principles. All of their teas are made from a blend of Chinese herbs. Different herbs mixture will provide different health benefits.

YourTea has a huge selection to help with your body and mood. For instance, what I have here are TinyTea, HerTea, Energy Tea and Sleep Tea.

I’ve personally tried the 14-Day Tiny TeaTox to cleanse and nourish my system, which also help with weight loss, toxin removal and skin health. Based on my personal experience, TinyTea helped to recover my digestive system and reduce bloating especially after heavy meals.

Being back in Malaysia, I have to admit, I probably was having more cheat meals than I should. So the 14-Day TeaTox has helped to restore my system to a point where it functions effectively. And when my body and mind is in balance, I didn’t have as much food craving and it also suppressed my appetite.

I drank it twice daily, 30 minutes before my meals. Of course, TinyTea is an acquired taste as the main ingredients are Oolong Tea, sicklepod senna seed, lotus leaf and hawthorn berry. If you do not like the taste, feel free to add a squeeze of lemon or dash of raw honey.

I would definitely encourage all of you to try drinking herbal teas and gain the benefits. So click the link in my description box below and enter the Promo Code BLEND10 to receive 10% discount off any purchase you make from YourTea. The good news is, YourTea ships worldwide.

Unlike many other tea brands, YourTea doesn’t claim to be a miracle weight loss tea. Instead, they aim to educate you with the benefits of chinese herbs, and most important for you to lead and healthy, happy and balanced life.

So go on to their website and read more about the selection of teas they have, the benefits, and also checkout their healthy tips, eating plans and recipes.

2) Walk It Off

After a large meal, take a 10 – 20 minute stroll around your neighborhood. Instead of just sitting down on the sofa feeling extremely stuffed and bloated, plus you’ll probably help yourself to more food. Get out, and go for a walk. Make it effortless, take this time to bond with your family or friends.

If you are at a party, get up and hit the dance floor. It’s a great way to have fun and burn the excess calories. If you’re in a shopping centre, well take this opportunity to walk around and do your new year shopping.

Walking after a heavy meal is the perfect gentle exercise for promoting digestion. And if you really feel bloated, walk while gently massaging your abs, in a circular motion, just around your belly button to promote digestion.

3) Eat Right to Lighten Up

Even if you’re religiously drinking YourTea, but you’re still overeating and eating bad food, it won’t help to restore your body to its natural state. After weeks of holiday abuse or even heavy meals over the weekend, try to go “Light & Clean” for the next 3 days.

You don’t need to do any extreme detox like going on a liquid diet, instead I would encourage you to eat clean by eliminating processed food, sugary food which tend to lead to further sugar craving, salt which causes water retention and puffiness and alcohol, which causes dehydration.

For the next 3 days, start your day with a high fiber breakfast and consume a diet rich in complex carbs, protein and healthy fat. If you have no idea where to begin, watch my “Reduce Bloating: 3-Day Detox Plan”.

You can also try other healthy recipes on my channel. You can even mix it up with the recipes from YourTea’s website. Start this 3-Day detox plan to rebalance your body, mind and soul. If you want to live a healthy life, look good and feel good about yourself, you will have to nourish your body from the inside out.

4) Rehydrate Your Body

Dehydration is a major effect from consuming too much alcohol, salty, sugary or fattening food. When your body is dehydrated, it causes water retention, which makes you look puffy and feel bloated.

So in order to eliminate toxins from your system, you’ll need to rehydrate your body by drinking at least 2.5L – 3L of water everyday. Keep yourself hydrate together with YourTea to flush our toxins and waste from your body more efficiently.

Keeping your body hydrated also helps to reduce cravings and hunger, because most of the time when we think we are hungry, we’re actually just dehydrated. This is also the reason why drinking enough water daily has been said to help with weight loss.

5) Sweat it Out

Have you ever felt the need to just sweat it out especially after a ‘heavy’ night before? Well chances are, because you really needed too. Your body could be retaining too much water and perhaps you really needed to burn the extra calories from the large meal.

The morning after a heavy meal, do a light to moderate 30-minute cardio workout. You can either go for a jog to really sweat it out or do gentle exercises such as yoga stretches to promote blood flow in your body. This can help you to recover quicker and keep you awake.

Another method is a visit to the steam or sauna room. The heat from the surrounding will prompt the release of toxins through the pores in your skin and it will make you feel much better. And of course, remember to drink lots of water after a visit to the steam or sauna room in order to stay hydrated.

So even though we are more likely to overindulge during the holiday season, you may still apply these simple natural remedies to promote healthy digestion any time of the year. I would encourage you to start with the YourTea 14-Day TeaTox to cleanse and restore your system this new year. We one get one body, so respect and treat it right. All the best!
