A lot of you have been saying that you can’t do this workout, can’t do that workout because it requires dumbbells. Want to work out in the comfort of your own home without spending thousands of dollars on a variety of dumbbells? You can make your own weights at home! I am going to show you how you can make your own dumbbell at a really low cost using some milk bottles, water bottles and stuff you can find at home. The advantage of DIY Fitness Weights is that it’s cheap, easy to make, and you can adjust the weight by adding or subtracting contents from the bottles.

I’m going to share with you 5 really easy DIY Fitness Weight ideas.

What we need are:

Materials:

1) Milk Bottle (2L),

2) Medium Bottles (500ml)

3) Small Bottles (250ml)

4) Socks

5) Large Bag

6) Pebbles

7) Books

Steps:

  1. Fill all the bottles with stones. Alternately, use water for a lighter weight.
  2. Fill a clean sock with stones.
  3. For the large bag, fill it with heavy books.

Let’s start by making heavier weight. Fill up the 2L milk bottles with pebbles and this one bottle will weigh about 3.5kgs. If you want it slightly lighter, fill it up with water instead, which will be about 2kgs. And the workout you can do with the heavier weights are dumbbells row and squats.

If you want lighter weight, then choose medium size bottle(2kgs) or you can even choose smaller bottle(1kg) as well. Some of the workouts you can do are biceps curl, triceps extension, reverse fly or side and front raises.

If you want to lift even heavier, then grab a large bag and fill them up with books(8-10kgs). What I like to use this heavy bag for is goblet squat to work on my legs muscle and also triceps extension to get rid of the bingo wings.

This is a really fun way to challenge yourself and to progress in your workout. If you want to make it even more fun, grab an old pair of socks, fill them up with pebbles or even rice, tie them around your ankles or wrists. You can perform body weight cardio exercise such as sprinter or even abs exercises, leg raises to put yourself just little extra. So guys, this is a really cheap and easy way to make your own dumbbell at home. So, no more excuses, make them and use them when you do my workout with me.
